The animal form is ubiquitous upon examination of most figural lever seal presses. The tried and true animal form imbued the owner with the strength of a lion, or the natural whimsy of a toad, or perhaps the tenacity of a bison. The Scotty dog, a British or Scottish seal was a vanity seal with addresses, or crest, unlike American seals usually used for organizations, legal or other business matters.
