“B” Buffalo
A 1905 Business registry lists W. E. Banning Stamp and Stencil Works, Syracuse, N. Y.; manufacture stamps, dies, inking pads, etc.; has been formed with capital, $500; The company was in business earlier than that date There are many examples of seal press “ engraved top listing WE Banning Syracuse New York” as maker, However actual seal press’s manufactured by Banning are extremely rare. This B branded Buffalo seal press is the second known. Even this one was at some point made a press punch, not uncommon for seal presses in their day.
There is another banning Buffalo with a more elaborate B pattern.
Banning also patented the Burdened Man Press (see separate article herein) and it is only the second known to collectors.
