The Bison is an 1874 Carsley patent press. However variants are obvious, some marked patent or a patent date others unmarked. Most are "check cancellation" stamps one of which is pictured herein the other six are commercial presses. Most had a bright gold gilding and a opening at the head allowing material to weight the item and the top was plugged or sealed. These presses were hard pressed to make a good impression. They don't have the force of a lever seal press.
